Securing Financing for Your Medspa or Aesthetic Medical Practice

This past Tuesday I gave a webinar on securing financing for your Medspa or Aesthetic Medical Practice.  This webinar was sponsored by Eric Hansen, Financial Adviser at Merrill Lynch.

I outlined the preliminary thought process for investing in a new medspa or aesthetic medical practice, for the purchase of capital equipment or for the acquisition of an existing practice.  The Webinar presented how to identify all costs involved in each scenario in order to avoid the pitfall of being “short” cash when you need it most: launching your practice or a new procedure.

In addition, I discussed the risk/reward formula as it relates to your equity/debt ratio plus touched on SBA lending and the 4 Cs: Concept, Credibility, Collateral, and Credit.

If you weren’t able to make the Webinar, you may listen to the recording.

Please join me for my next webinar on Tuesday, February 7th at 1:00 p.m. EST: Opening a Successful Medspa or Cosmetic Aesthetic Medical Practice.  Sign up here.

J.C. Penney’s New Policy a Lesson for Aesthetic Practices & Medspas Considering Deep Discounting

A “Penney” for their thoughts that could be worth millions…

J.C. Penney announced today that it is permanently marking down its prices by 40% and stopping its deep discounting strategy that has been the cornerstone of its marketing in the past.  Read this Wall Street Journal article to learn more.

The Acara team has always advocated selling value not price.  Strategic use of discounts (10% – 25%) has worked very successfully at our client’s aesthetic practices  with added-value offers to incentivize consumers to react now rather than later.  Essentially the goal is to utilize discounts and offers to trigger an “I don’t want to miss out” response rather than an  “I can finally afford it” response.

I have seen too many Medspas and also Aesthetic Medical Practices get caught up in the roller coaster effect of deep discounting.  Unwittingly, they train their customers to buy only when there is, say, a 40% off sale or a BOGO.  This discount syndrome shows clearly when graphing monthly sales.

J.C. Penney is taking this value strategy one step further. It will be interesting to monitor the success of the program over time.

Please take a moment and complete this poll so that we can learn more about what is being done in the world of aesthetic medicine.  Also, feel free to comment on this post.

Acara Achieves Rapid Growth with Cutting Edge Marketing & Business Development in Aesthetic Medicine

N E W S   R E L E A S E

Acara, the leading US aesthetic medical practice and medspa consulting and marketing firm, announced today sales doubled in 2011 over 2010. The Acara Team of aesthetic medical business leaders generated this success for their clients through targeted cosmetic medical marketing, sales, operations and business development programs.

Branford, CT (PRWEB) January 19, 2012 – Acara, the leading business team in the aesthetic medical practice and medical spa industries, announced today that their 2011 sales doubled over 2010.

“This incredible growth was driven by Acara’s excellent reputation and client loyalty. What’s more, as banks have begun to loosen the reins on lending for cosmetic medical practices, we have seen an increase in requests for feasibility studies and development projects, and established practices are able to capitalize new equipment and services.  Our client loyalty has grown through the combination of our superior client service and by the addition of new marketing programs such as social media management,” states Acara CEO, Francis X. Acunzo.

“I can’t say enough good things about Acara,” said Dr. Dawn Rogers from RefineMD of Menasha, Wisconsin.  “Thanks to Acara, our practice is doing better than we’ve done in our five years in business and we see it getting better every day.”

“Our business relationship has been a positive experience, and we appreciate the support and assistance our practice has received.  We have enjoyed working with each and every one of Acara’s personnel,” said Dr. Eric Emerson of Southeastern Plastic Surgery and Laser Center of Gastonia, NC.

Acunzo attributes the success of Acara’s clients to both the skill and expertise of his team as well as the willingness of clients to work closely with Acara to implement best practices for both management and marketing.  “Many of our clients have already established themselves as highly skilled surgeons and aestheticians. We give them the types of business management and marketing assistance they need to bring their practices to the next level.”

Botox Tax Goes Under The Knife In New Jersey

It will soon cost you less to purchase your Botox and all other cosmetic procedures in New Jersey.

N.J.’s ‘BoTax’ falls as Gov. Christie signs repeal.

Trenton, N.J. — New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie has signed a bill that repeals and will phase out the state’s 6 percent “BoTax” — the nation’s first such tax on cosmetic procedures.

The bill’s sponsors, Sen. Joseph Kyrillos (R-Monmouth) and Sen. Paul Sarlo (D-Bergen), said the eight-year-old tax is not only a “burden” to patients, but to the medical offices that must collect the tax and state agencies that enforce it, according to NJ.com.

The Acara team visits Aesthetic Medical Practices and Medical Spas nationwide on a regular basis; most of the time we find great clinical services, but mediocre customer service. How do you create a Customer Centric Medical Practice?  Join Francis X. Acunzo, Acara CEO, as he discusses how to convert your Practice into a Customer Centric Organization.
